When you sign up for an international business account, you can choose to pay in over 50 currencies, making it one of the most flexible options today. You can also use your international business account to receive money in up to 10 currency accounts.

With no hidden fees, you'll also never be unpleasantly surprised when receiving payments. But how do you use Wise to receive a payment from a client, exactly?

How do I receive money from a client?

Receiving money into your international business account is easy, and all you need to do is pass on your account details in the currency you want to be paid to your client, and they can quickly transfer the funds to you.

It's currently possible to receive money into your account in the following currencies:

  • British pounds

  • Euros

  • Australian dollars

  • Canadian dollars

  • US dollars

  • Hungarian forints

  • Malaysian ringgits (for residents of Malaysia only)

  • New Zealand dollars

  • Romanian Leu (for residents in the EEA, Switzerland, UK, Japan, Australia, Canada and USA only)

  • Singapore dollars

  • Turkish lira

Want to receive money now? Here’s what to do:

Step 1: Open a balance in the currency you want to receive money in. You can do this from "Home" on the website or in the app.

Step 2: Click 'Get account details' – you'll need to satisfy some requirements if it's the first time you're getting account details.

Step 3: Share these account details with your client or whomever you want to receive money from, so they can use the details to send you money.

Step 4: Receive their payment directly into your account in the specified currency.

 FYI:

  • You can only receive payments in the same currency as your balance.

  • You can instantly convert the money to other currencies once it's in your account.

  • There are no fees for receiving payments using your account details.

  • Aside from US dollars, there's no limit for how much you can receive.

*Except when receiving US dollars domestic or SWIFT wires that cost $7.50 per transaction.

How do I request money from a client?

You can also use your international business account's "Request Money" feature to request money from a client. All that's required is to select the currency you want to receive the funds in and click/tap on "Request".

Here’s what to do:

Step 1: Open an account in the currency you want to receive money by going to "Home" on the website or in the app.

Step 2: Select "Request" before adding all the information relevant to the request.

Step 3: Share the request link with your client (or whoever else you're recieving money from), so they can send you the funds, and you'll receive the payment into that currency account.

Navigating the world of international business payments is still an inefficient and expensive endeavour for many companies. It's not uncommon for business owners to experience unfavourable rates, high processing fees and archaic systems

But with an international business account powered by Wise, doing business across borders is more efficient, much cheaper and a lot easier. 40% of payments reach the recipient's account immediately, and transfers are around six times less than traditional banks.
